you should know and take into consideration.
Typically, you will select and choose from these options based on your own personal preferences or the existing wishes of your deceased loved one. Although in some cases, certain steps may be pre-determined per the regulations of the housing cemetery.
1. Size & Shape
Whether you are purchasing a gravestone for a single person or for a family of four, size is one of the things that will be highlighted in your discussion with a memorial professional.
- On how many graves will the monument sit?
- How many family members will be interred there?
2. Material & Color
There are as many colors of granite as there are colors of the rainbow. Some are much better suited for granite countertops than granite memorials. The color of granite has everything to do with where it is quarried.
3. Finish
As a standard, most monuments come polished on two sides, front and back, with the other edges rock pitched (rough, rocky surfaces, more like a natural stone). Polishing additional sides costs more. However, polished surfaces stay cleaner for a longer period of time.
